 Welcome to Our Club's Website

HSSC was established in 1975. Four goals are contained in the Harrisburg Shetland Sheepdog Club's (HSSC) Constitution.

To do all possible to bring the natural qualities of the Shetland Sheepdog to perfection.

To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by The American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which Shetland Sheepdogs shall be judged.

To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed and to encourage sportsman-like competition at all dog competitions.

To conduct sanctioned and licensed specialty shows and obedience trials under the rules of The  American Kennel Club.

Our Club

HSSC meetings are held on the Second Saturday of each month, except August and December. During the month of August, the Club holds its annual picnic and auction.The Club's Annual Awards Banquet is held in December or January.  We hold our Annual AKC Specialty BOB Show in April at the Blue&Gray Cluster; our Specialty Match is held in May.

Our club members are active in all areas of showing, in both the Breed and Performance Rings. The experience of our members is a great help to anyone interested in learning more about shelties. As a club member we all try to help each other become better dog owners and diligent keepers of the breed standard.
